Tropical Forest Alliance welcomes new senior appointment in China
The Tropical Forest Alliance is delighted to announce a new senior appointment in China to its secretariat team. Dr. Chunquan Zhu joins as Head of Nature Initiatives & TFA, China.
Chunquan brings to the team extensive experience in research, programme management, fundraising, government liaison, policy advocacy, corporate partnerships, and institutional development initiatives. Most recently Chunquan served as the IUCN Country Representative for China. In this capacity, he held responsibility for the overall development of IUCN’s programme in the country, as well as communications, constituency development, and institutional and governmental partnerships. Among his accomplishments are the initiation and development of a new concept of Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP), the pilot testing of the protected area systems in China, and the initiation of FSC certification in the country. Chunquan’s experience will enable him to better support and build the TFA community, as well as to develop a Business Coalition for Ecological Civilization in China.
Commenting on the appointments, TFA Executive Director Justin Adams, said: “Having experienced and talented leaders within the Alliance in China is essential for us to maintain and accelerate collective action to halt tropical deforestation linked to commodity supply chains. We are thrilled to support Chinese companies and the government to strengthen President Xi Jinping’s vision of ecological civilization within global soft-commodity supply chains”.
